Field trials and farmers workshops in Ashanti and Volta

Field trials for Cooperatives  and smallholder farmer associations

The Safisana Agronomy team is doing everything in its power to open up the market for locally produced, organic fertilizer in Ghana. Together with farmers’ organisations AgriterraAgro Eco and Farmerline Group, our senior agronomists Elvis Appiah and Daniel Larkai have carried out several field trials in the Ashanti and Volta region to make farmers’ cooperations familiar with our fertilizer product.  The field trials for , farmers associations and cooperatives consist of two or three sessions, in which the use and application of Asase Gyefo premium organic fertilizer is demonstrated on a trial plot,  and monitored throughout the cropping season to show the results in soil fertility and yields.

The pictures show the fruitfull land preparation workshops with the farmers at Nyenyanui in the Volta region last April, and the farm field days with 50  smallholders farmers in two cocoa farming communities in the Ashanti region: Kwakokrom and Mpraniase. Here the agronomy team first held some land preparation workshops demonstrating the use and application of Asase Gyefo, and during the second visit they did the transplanting of the cocoa seedlings.

In a few weeks, the agronomy team will meet up again with the farmers in both regions for harvesting time. That is when the farmers will see the results and benefits of improved soil structure, fertility and crop yields. We will keep you posted!
