Farmers Association GIDA wants to shift to organic fertilizer

Joseph Quarschie is farmer at the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority in Greater Accra Area. As the secretary of the Ashaiman Irrigation Farmers Association which has 107 registered members, he knows how farmers are affected by the fertilizer shortage and rising prices.
Safisana, waste recycling company and producer of Asase Gyefo Premium Organic Fertilizer, went to see him to talk about the challenges and the solutions how to improve wellfare and yields for the farmers in the area. Quarschie: ‘We definitely want to shift to organic fertilizer, but we need ploughing machinery to make our work easier and more efficient.’
