We spoke with Joseph Quarschie, farmer and secretary of the Ashaiman Irrigation Farmers Association at GIDA, on how the 107 members of this association deal with fertilizer shortages in the Greater Accra Area, Ghana. The majority of the farmers want to shift to organic fertilizer and therefore they need additional ploughing machinery to save time and cost.
Organic fertilizer
WE BRING YOU A LITTLE PIECE OF ITALY
With the prices of chemical fertiliser currently being at a record high, due to scarcity of key nutrient elements and unprecedented global price increase in oil and gas, organic fertiliser is rapidly becoming an affordable and competitive alternative to chemical fertiliser.
Asase Gyefo Organic Fertilizer is a premium and certified product that is suitable for all types of crops, for agriculture and horticulture. You can use it in greenhouses as well as on the open field. After applying Asase Gyefo, the nutrients stay in the soil until after the next crop season.
Asase Gyefo is perfect for use in the greenhouse. Meet farmer Kelly Ampofo (28) who is in charge of greenhouse crop production at Unique Vegetable Farms Limited, located in the Ashaiman region, in the Greater Accra Area.
